Landslide risk reduction, Paget Farm US$100,000

This site is a major landslide area, with evidence of a long history of slope failure. It is likely that many of the properties are built on previously failed material. There is evidence too of the relative disregard of natural drainage lines on the hillslope in terms of construction; a road crosses a major gully feature without evidence of surface water management and there is no within- community water management. Without interventions further failures must be expected

This is an extensive slope stability problem. We believe that an intercept drain, constructed above the immediate core area of slope failures occurring in the mid-slope locations, and linked at both ends to existing natural downslope drainage channels is an appropriate initial intervention.
