2005/6 Accreditations

McArthur Edwards received accreditation for his contribution to the management of the pilot study in the Trou Rouge Community, Castries, St Lucia.

Robert Charles received accreditation for his contribution to drainage construction and design in the Skate Town Community, Castries, St Lucia.

Accredition

MoSSaiC has in place a Community member accreditation procedure. The primary objectives of the accreditation process are:

  • Recognition of individuals who have demonstrated a consistently
  • high standard of contribution to a MoSSaiC project
  • Promotion and dissemination of best practice
  • Stimulation of innovation and diversity in MoSSaiC related activities

The accreditation procedure has a very specific set of guidelines which have to be met by an individual to whom certification is given.

The Accreditation Function

Accreditation involves an evaluation of work undertaken by an individual to whom certification of accreditation is awarded. Consideration of an individual for MoSSaiC accreditation is generally based on a recommendation forthcoming from a MoSSaiC Committee Member, Community member, or such other persons who have sufficient awareness of the role an individual has played in a MoSSaiC project.

Objectives of Accreditation

1. Accreditation of an individual associated with MoSSaiC related activities is an important element for the assurance of quality and the maintenance of standards.

2. To assist stakeholders, professional societies, and potential employers, in identifying specific individuals that meet the minimum criteria for accreditation

Benefits of Program Accreditation

By providing a standard for judgement of an individual Community member engaged on a MoSSaiC programme, the accreditation process publicly assures the competence of the individual and provides a reference of standing independently from an educational provider or an employer. This accreditation is most important to educational providers and employers. Accreditation may also be a critical component
